Frequently Asked Questions

How many does the dome sleep?
The dome comfortably sleeps 10. There is additional sleeping space on a pull out couch and fold out futon for up to 4 additional people. There is also a futon in the unheated gazebo. On a case by case circumstance, we may allow camping of overflow guests.

What size are the beds in the dome?
Downstairs, one bedroom has a California king size bed and the other bedroom has a double and a twin trundle that houses an additional twin bed if necessary. One upstairs bedroom has a Cal king and the other has a queen.

Do you allow dogs?
We do allow well behaved dogs at no additional cost. The 3 acre meadow surrounding the dome is NOT fenced. In addition our neighbors have dogs so please do not let your dog roam off our property.

What is the weather like?
We are located 17 miles inland from the coast so we get a lot more sun than you find on the Mendocino coast. During the winter it is often rainy and temperatures average about 55 during the day and 35 at night. Spring brings 65 during the day and 40 at night. Summer averages 85 during the day and 50 at night. Fall is a pleasant 70 during  the day and 45 at night. Summertime temperatures can reach up to 100+ but due to the nature of the dome and the cottage the houses never get hotter than 80 and temperatures are often 20 degrees cooler by the creek.

What kids items are provided in the dome?
The dome is a very kid friendly rental. The property includes a play structure, a pogo swing, a slide, kids picnic table, scooter and tricycle. The house has a playroom with toys and books, a video library, booster seats, baby swing, bed rails, childproofing, gates and some kids ware.

Where can I buy groceries?
Lemon's Market in Philo is the largest and best local market. For produce, our neighbor Blue Meadows Farm, at the beginning of Holmes Ranch, Boont Berry in Boonville, or the Boonville Farmer's Market, are much better. Gowan's has good, local, but not organic, produce for part of the year. The produce selection at all these places is limited and at its best during the summer and fall. For specialty items Boont Berry is the best place to try. If you don't see it out, ask, they often carry items in the back in bulk that they do not display.

Do cell phones work?
Many cell phones do not get coverage at the dome. AT&T phones do not get service except in Boonville, while Verizon phones gets better, but not always reliable, service.

Where is the closest ATM?
The closest ATM is at Lemon's Market in Philo. Lemon's will also give you cash back if you are making a purchase with your debit card. There is also an ATM in Boonville at the Pic and Pay or the Redwood Drive-In.

Where can I go to eat around there?
There are several good eating out options including Lauren's (Boonville), Libby's (Philo) and The Boonville Hotel (Boonville but pricey) for dinner and Boont Berry Farm (Boonville) and The General Store (Boonville) or the Mosswood Cafe(Boonville) for lunch. Mosswood also has nice baked goods. Lauren's has a small play area in the back for kids and has a kid's menu.
